Biography

Christine Leitner is Head of the Center for European Public Administration (CEPA) and Co-Head of the Department for Governance and Public Administration at Danube University Krems, Austria. She is programme director of the European eGovernment Awards and course director of the executive Master of Public Administration. From 1997 – 2006 she was Senior Lecturer and programme manager of the eEurope Awards (2002-2006) at the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA), the Netherlands. Before that she headed the European integration unit at the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Vienna, following a teaching assignment at the University of Vienna. In 1995, she was seconded to the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium, where she worked on ICT standardisation policies.

She has been a member of international working groups and participated as expert in various international conferences and EU programmes, and was a judge in the 2005 Speyer Quality Award. She is a board member of the Estonian eGovernance Academy, was visiting lecturer at various international universities and schools such as Maastricht University (NL), the University Roma III (IT), the Leadership for a Networked World Programme at John F. Kennedy School, Harvard University (US) and the University of Applied Sciences in Bern (CH). She is author of various publications in the field of ICT and public administration.
