Registration

• Options:

• Fees: The registration fees are:
  1. 350USD for early and authors' registration
  2. 400USD for late registration
  3. 450USD for on-site registration.
• Coverage: The registration fee covers:
  1. Access to all conference events
  2. Meals:
     - Tea breaks - 8 (2 per day)
     - Lunches - 4 (1 per day)
     - Monday reception (buffet) - during posters and demos session
     - Tuesday dinner.
  3. Transport:
     - Between hotel and conference venue.
  4. Conference pack:
     - conference proceedings
     - conference brochure
     - participant tag/pass
     - conference bag
     - writing pad
     - pen.
  5. Wednesday Tour.
• Additionals:
  1. Additional copies of proceedings - 30USD each
  2. Additional persons for dinner - 50USD each
  3. Additional persons for Wednesday tour - 10USD each
  4. Persons for Thursday tour - 10USD each.
• Deadline: Authors registered by 6 October. Early registration deadline for non-authors was 3 November 2008 and late registration deadline was accepted till 24 November 2008. Subsequently, registrations were made on-site at the conference venue.

Accommodation

Standard rooms were booked at two hotels in the proximity of the conference venue: Sonesta (www.sonestacairo.com) and Triumph at 107.10USD and 85.00USD per night respectively. Room rates were without breakfast. Regular bus service was offered between the hotels and the conference venue.

Hotel booking could be done as part of conference registration.

Payment

• Payment for registration and accommodation were done in two ways:
  1. Online using credit card (Master Card or Visa).
  2. Offline: By completing a downloadable offline Registration Form and sending by email to (icegov@icegov.org). The form allowed for three payment options:
     1. Credit Card (Master or Visa).
     2. Bank Draft: Obtained in favor of "United Nations University - International Institute for Software Technology", and sent by mail to "ICEGOV2008, UNU-IIST, P.O. Box 3058, Macau SAR, China"
     3. Bank Transfer: Made as follows:
        - Account Holder - "United Nations University - International Institute for Software Technology",
        - Bank Name - "Banco National Ultramarino",
        - Account Number - "001-130718-131-4",
        - Swift Code - "BNULMOMX",
        - Bank Address - "22 e 38, Av. Almeida Ribeiro, Macao SAR, China",
        - Message - "ICEGOV2008 Registration",
        and sent to by email to (icegov@icegov.org). Bank charges were born by the sender.
• According to the conference cancellations policy, registration and hotel fees were reimbursed at:
  • 80% if a cancellation request was received before 3 November 2008
  • 50% if a cancellation request was received between 3 and 24 November 2008
  • 0% if a cancellation request was received after 24 November 2008.
• Registration was not transferable between persons.

Financial Support

Authors of accepted submissions were able to apply for financial support to partially cover the costs of attending the conference - registration, hotel or both - with preference given to citizens of developing countries, working for government or academia or studying for a degree. At most one author per submission was supported. Applications for financial support were received between 1 September 2008 and 15 September 2008. Applicants were notified of the outcome of their sponsorship applications (acceptance or rejection) through email by 29 September 2008.

Visa

Citizens of the following countries were required to have a pre-arrival visa (they had a visa before coming to Egypt from their land): Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, India, Iran, Macao, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, Sri-Lanka, Thailand, Uzbekistan and All African countries except South Africa. For other nationalities, visas were obtained obtained upon arrival at the airport in Egypt, with a fee of around 15.00USD.
